Intensive lifestyle education and support, such as the Diabetes Prevention Program’s lifestyle change programs (LCP) can alleviate diabetes risk; yet, many individuals are not aware of their prediabetes condition and low LCP participation rates diminish program impacts at the population level. A major obstacle in the field is a limited understanding of how individuals make LCP enrollment decisions. This poster describes a study that aims to examine the effects of social norms on an individual's LCP enrollment decision and is built on a three-armed randomized, clinical trial for investigating the efficacy of three strategies that promote LCP enrollment in an adult at-risk population. A sub-group of trial participants was invited to complete an online survey about their social network and perceived social norms for LCP enrollment.
