(P527) Video Technology Enables Face-Face DSMES for Inpatients When the CDCES is Offsite

Our DSMES team worked with IT for a solution to the continued need for inpatient diabetes educators for multiple facilities. Vidyo was the solution. The Vidyo icon was installed on iPads already used by staff on the units. Vidyo provides patients access to speak with a CDCES when the facility does not have one in the building. The benefit is that one CDCES can work remotely and cover many facilities. Contact with a CDCES can help set up a smoother transition for follow-up care. Vidyo offers an option to send invite codes to other caregivers that may want to be part of the education session. Patients can engage in this video face-to-face and get that personalized education they may not otherwise receive.
