(P226) Hypoglycemia and Glucagon Therapy in Older Adults: Comparing Treatments

In older adults, the need for maintaining a therapeutic A1C level must be balanced with the risks of hypoglycemia. Clinicians should be cognizant of neurocognitive function and decline in this population and recognize medication therapy that could contribute to this decline. This poster reviews the impact of hypoglycemia when maintaining therapeutic A1C levels in older adults, and the novel glucagon therapies available compared with older formulations to treat significant hypoglycemia.
