(P224) Examining the Confluence of Race/Ethnicity with Diabetes Care & Education and Its Effects on Self-Care Behaviors

There have been multiple small studies looking at diabetes education methods, but there is no generalizable research demonstrating that diabetes care and education influences self-care behaviors differently among various racial/ethnic groups. Self-care behaviors are linked to improved diabetes outcomes. This poster describes a study seeking to understand the confluence between diabetes education, diabetes self-management behaviors, and the differences among people from different racial/ethnic groups and to identify patterns in patient behaviors as a result of education to guide resources for patients with diabetes who need the support most. A secondary source was used to gather quantitative data- The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), 2019-2021 and an exploratory analysis was done.
