(P534) Using Diabetes Health Literacy Tool to Support Healthcare Providers During Virtual Visits

The Covid-19 pandemic necessitated a switch to offering virtual visits. When pivoting to virtual care, the client's comfort with and access to technology, along with the health care provider's comfort with technology were challenges to be overcome. Since that time, virtual care has been shown to be equivalent or in some cases, preferred, over in-person care. This poster will outline how healthcare practitioners can stay informed and current with new technology, consider patient preferences, and assess a client's ability to access the technology necessary to participate in virtual care. As well as how a newly developed health literacy assessment tool can be helpful in assisting healthcare providers in their virtual visits with clients.
