(P515) Leveraging Technology and Theory to Increase Readiness for and Enrollment in the DPP: A Demonstration Project

While progress has been made in scaling the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), enrollment remains a challenge. Innovative strategies are urgently needed to increase engagement. This poster describes a 2-year demonstration project that leveraged and combined technology, behavior change theory, and participatory design approaches to develop, deploy, and evaluate a statewide, 6-month text-message delivered, bilingual, tailored, behavior change program to increase: 1) readiness to engage in key behaviors for diabetes prevention; 2) engagement in community health services that address unmet social needs to reduce barriers to participation; 3) readiness to enroll in the DPP; and 4) enrollment in the DPP. The poster author also shares outcomes for the project (n=437) and implications for scaling similar solutions.
