Dance is a physical activity that integrates movement, music, and social interaction. Dance engages people in all aspects of physical fitness (cardiorespiratory, strength, flexibility, and agility) and can facilitate older adults’ physical and emotional well-being. Dancing can be an effective strategy for diabetes primary prevention. People living with prediabetes and diabetes can dance as an enjoyable and effective secondary and tertiary prevention practice. This poster describes a program called Dance for Health (D4H), a mixed methods study evaluated using the RE-AIM Framework that collected data on the following: 1) adequate physical exertion [> 50% maximum heart rate (HR)]; 2) perceived exertion [BORG rating > 3]; 3) enjoyment, measured by Physical Activity Enjoyment Scales (PACES); and 4) participants’ perceptions of D4H.
