(P317) Preventing Hypoglycemic Events Related to Insulin and Food Administration in the Inpatient Setting

This poster showcases a project implemented at WVU Camden Clark to decrease hypoglycemic events related to meal delivery and early administration of premeal insulin. The project showed that coordinating meal delivery with premeal insulin administration eliminated that as a cause of hypoglycemic events. The poster author reports that educating the staff on the types of insulin was key to the success of the project and to the change process.
