(P207) Partnership Between Healthcare Systems and Community-Based Organizations to Improve Cooking Skills

Individuals living in areas without access to healthy foods are at higher risk for developing diabetes. Providing people with fresh food boxes can help increase access to healthy foods. However, many times the person receiving the food box may not have the skills to utilize and cook the included produce. This poster describes how Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System collaborated with several community organizations to implement and deliver "Cooking up Confidence" classes to increase cooking skills using fresh food box ingredients.
