(P606) Improving DKA Management with 2-Bag System

Managing diabetes-related Ketoacidosis (DKA) is usually complicated in nature, requiring nurses to juggle between fluid resuscitation, insulin drip, electrolyte replacements, and frequent blood glucose checks. This poster discusses how the medical center transitioned from the traditional one-bag DKA treatment to implementing the two-bag system protocol for DKA management among adult patients. It will also highlight the educational session and DKA worksheet which nurses utilize as a guide from initiation of the protocol to anion gap closure. Furthermore, the presenters will share how the nurses' perceptions of managing DKA transformed.
