In 2023, there are expected to be 1,958,310 million new cancer cases in the United States. Diabetes and cancer are diagnosed within the same individual more often than chance even when adjusting for age. Managing diabetes during cancer treatment can be difficult. This poster will discuss shared characteristics between diabetes and cancer, cancers that are an increased risk for people with diabetes, and cancer medications that cause hyperglycemia and diabetes. The poster author will discuss the management of diabetes during common cancer treatments including chemotherapy, enteral and parenteral nutrition, and steroids.
