(P215) Delivering the National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) to Participants in Rural Areas

The CDC and its partners strive to scale the National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) lifestyle change program (LCP) to underserved areas, which includes all demographic subgroups who reside in rural areas. The objective of this analysis was to identify gaps in enrollment in rural areas by looking at the current delivery of the LCP. In addition, we used characteristics associated with specific rural counties to better understand why some participants struggle to achieve programmatic goals. This poster summarizes the types of organizations delivering the LCP in rural areas, the characteristics of participants enrolling in these programs, outcomes associated with these participants, and strategies for successful delivery in rural areas.
