Evidence shows that High-Intensity Interval Training may have beneficial physiological effects on people with prediabetes and diabetes. This session will inform attendees about the clinical impact of high-intensity interval training (HIIT). The presenter will start by discussing the most recent statistics and treatment goals for a patient with diabetes and prediabetes. The presenter will also review the various components of exercise, including aerobic and anaerobic exercise, and highlight HIIT workouts specifically. After discussing the physiological aspects of HIIT, the presenter will then detail the latest evidence supporting HIIT workouts in patients with diabetes and prediabetes, address any potential barriers to HIIT, and provide examples of efficient HIIT workouts and workout plans that providers can share with their patients.
