Eating healthy to manage diabetes long term is not a “one size fits all” recipe; let's embrace diversifying our plate and our experiences to create interventions toward a healthy lifestyle. About 4.9 million African American and Hispanic adults, or 18.7% of all African Americans have diabetes, compared to 7.1% of non-Hispanic White Americans, but only 2.7% of dietitians are Black and 3% are Hispanic. With great diversity in our nation, all health care professionals need to learn about diverse populations to provide credible and relatable resources for various communities. In this session, attendees will gain knowledge of how to provide a simple, effective approach to learning about communities and provide education that is impactful and sustainable using culturally relevant resources.
