Understanding expert guidelines and clinical data for weight management therapies is essential for diabetes care and education specialists (DCES). However, practical and effective implementation strategies are critical to achieving optimal outcomes using evidence-based interventions. This session will build upon foundational knowledge and focus on the role of the DCES in supporting weight management goals and using a person-centered approach to implement pharmacotherapy that addresses barriers, considers social determinants of health, and uses nonjudgmental, empathetic communication and counseling strategies.
