Diabetes care and education specialists working in the hospital setting have an opportunity to optimize outcomes for people with diabetes and more broadly impact diabetes care practices. This session will focus on the recently published position statement for the role of the DCES in the hospital setting which addresses the myriad of expectations beyond diabetes education. Challenges and barriers to DCES role implementation will be discussed as well as resources and interventions to overcome them. Outcomes of the Inpatient Management Community of Interest productivity survey will also be shared.
