Less than ten percent of people with diabetes ever receive Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support services or see a registered dietitian. Yet, there is ample evidence that people with diabetes experience improved outcomes when receiving DSMES. Plus, the ADA recommends that all people with diabetes receive MNT and DSMES at diagnosis and on a regular basis. As diabetes healthcare professionals, we need to take an active role in closing this gap and increasing participant engagement within our communities. Attendees who are starting a diabetes program or practice or want to revitalize their current program will gain fresh, realistic ideas that work by attending this informative session.
