It is no secret that mental health diagnoses exist on top of living with diabetes. However, discussions about a patient’s thoughts and feelings often go unrecognized during a standard medical appointment. In this session, we will review the pervasiveness of mental health challenges in the diabetes community, discuss current practices and assessments used, and review specific tools education specialists can implement to better understand, validate, and support their patients' mental health long term.
