Fifty years after the publication of the Inverse Care Law, health inequalities remain a pressing and urgent challenge for health care systems. Such inequalities are endemic from the highest structures of health care and disseminated throughout each level of health care delivery. In addition, a lack of diversity in clinical research further compounds inequalities, with gaps widening over recent years rather than closing them. This session will discuss the standardization of person-reported outcomes alongside how such standardization leads to tracking process metrics, advocacy, and health care user experience for the benefit of all. In addition, we will examine how to navigate the political landscape to influence health policies and the impact on individuals living with diabetes trying to access and effectively engage in health care.
