Attempting to better understand individuals with diverse social determinants of health is a theoretical approach that faces many challenges. Promoting health equity awareness, through an understanding of social determinants, is important but will require a different approach than traditional methods. Acknowledging and calling out bias within a provider’s care and empowering the client to advocate for equality based on educational needs are some of the approaches that will be discussed in this session. Presenters will share data collected and analyzed for a better understanding of how to best pursue this goal.
