On any given day, at least 25% of people admitted to a hospital have a primary or secondary diagnosis of diabetes. The rate of staff turnover and shortages make it difficult to maintain staff competencies related to glycemic management. This presentation focuses on the development and implementation of a diabetes champion workshop designed to empower staff and improve clinical outcomes in a rural healthcare system. What initially began as a hospital-based focused committee, evolved into a healthcare system champion workshop.
