Living with diabetes takes a toll on emotional and physical well-being. Diabetes care and education specialists are positioned as experts in diabetes and related cardiometabolic conditions. The field is comprised of professionals that represent diverse backgrounds and disciplines. Behavioral health is a core of diabetes care and education; however, we lack professionals who specialize in this area. Many regions are without access to such providers, although telehealth and inter-state agreements with regard to licensure have somewhat improved access to care. Prepare for this session by selecting and bringing your challenging behavioral health-related case(s) to discuss with the group. This opportunity to consult with a behavioral health specialist and your peers will lead to greater empowerment with future cases surrounding behavioral health.
