Patients have had A1c imprinted so heavily that many reduce their entire visit to “pass” or “fail” based on their A1c. Focusing only on problems and fixing them can reduce patient motivation and self-efficacy. We should treat time in range (TIR) data like a continuous quality improvement exercise…always looking for where to focus our efforts. In this session, an expert interprofessional team will explore how to use the language of TIR with patients with diabetes to promote empowerment. The session will come to life by acting out case scenarios to demonstrate communication skills.
