In order to ramp down medications and costly treatments, and tailor diabetes treatments and education in a manner that patients request, one must be able to maximize all aspects of the ADCES7 Self-Care Behaviors™ as well as the six pillars of lifestyle medicine. This session focuses on how pharmacists are tackling deprescribing in the treatment of people with T2D using pharmacoepidemiology as the basis. Attendees will learn how to start the conversation with providers and patients and how to strategically optimize medication use in the short term for long-term deprescribing success. The presenters will highlight all of this using case-based formats and discussion on the risks and benefits of medications along with lifestyle changes that are sustainable and lifelong.
