S15 - Preserve Dignity and Individualize Obesity Treatment for Patients with T2D

There is strong evidence that obesity treatments can delay the onset of T2D and treat active disease, yet many patients living with obesity have never had treatment options discussed with them. This session explores the focus on obesity/overweight treatment strategies as primary to the long-term glycemic management of T2D. Obesity treatment varies broadly from lifestyle intervention, pharmacologic interventions, and surgical options -- all with varying levels of success and risk. The presenter will discuss the efficacy of these treatment modalities and explore the individualization of care for patients with diabetes and obesity.  Learners will get an introduction to patient-centered language, appropriate office environments, and team communication that preserves patient dignity.
