Though an array of technologies, from CGM to insulin delivery devices, are available and evidence demonstrates their ability to ease management and reduce disease burden, low utilization continues. The reasons are many and multifactorial. Some rest with busy, time-crunched health care providers who may not even be exposed to or observe the benefits of devices. Some rest with people with diabetes who may not be aware of the devices, choose not to use them, and/or face coverage hurdles. A multidisciplinary panel of DCES will present ways DCES, in their specialist role, can become diabetes technology champions and assist with increasing the adoption and optimization of these advantageous tools to improve diabetes care and quality of life, guided by the Identify, Configure, Collaborate (ICC) framework.
