An estimated 65% of people with T2D also have a condition called nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). While NAFLD is the most common form of liver disease worldwide, less than 5% of people with this condition are aware. Furthermore, 12-15% of people with NAFLD have nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), a more serious form of the disease. In addition to cardiovascular disease, NASH is associated with a substantial risk of advanced liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and cancer. Due to the close cardiometabolic relationship between T2D and NAFLD, new recommendations are now available addressing this overlapping epidemic. During this presentation, attendees will learn and apply the latest recommendations for identifying and treating people with NAFLD and T2D to prevent liver and cardiovascular disease.
